Michelin is the top-rated tire brand in the world because of its dedication to continual innovation and technological advancement. You can’t go wrong with any of their winter tires, but which one reigns supreme for your personal needs?
Keep reading to learn more about Canada Custom Autoworks’ top three Michelin tires for this winter season.
X-Ice Snow Tires
These are the quintessential winter tires. Michelin’s patented X-Ice Snow tires were designed to perform in Canadian winters— and perform they do! These tires give even the most anxious winter driver the ultimate confidence to conquer snow and ice conditions.
Michelin’s X-Ice Snow winter tire is designed for maximum mobility and safety – not only when it’s new but for seasons to come. The long-lasting winter tread will likely last you through multiple winters before starting to show wear and tear. With these tires, you can expect greater fuel efficiency, reduced road noise and a comfortable ride.
Pilot Alpin PA4
The Pilot Alpin PA4 is stamped with the Alpine Symbol’s three-peak mountain snowflake, so you know these tires are ready to go toe-to-toe with even the harshest winter storm Canada’s frigid climate has to offer.
Winter conditions are no match for the Pilot Alpin PA4’s enhanced performance and control on winter roads. The deep tread grooves allow for incredible braking response, keeping you safe at all times.
CrossClimate2
Standing out from the previous two tires, the CrossClimate2 is perfect for drivers who go the distance in the winter and often cross provincial lines. Winter impacts each province differently, especially the West Coast versus the East Coast.
Designed to perform in every climate condition, the CrossClimate2 tires confidently handle Alberta’s black-ice-covered roads, BC’s slushy highways and Saskatchewan’s swirling snow. These tires give drivers peace of mind because no matter the weather or climate, these tires have superior handling and excellent braking on both wet and dry roads.
Winter Tire Laws in Canada
Each province has different legislation on when and what type of winter tires should be installed. British Colombia and Quebec are the only provinces to enact a mandate for vehicles driving on most highways to have winter tires equipped from October 1 to March 15. For the rest of the provinces, winter tires are not required but strongly recommended.
Canadian Highway Safety Code only considers tires with the Alpine Symbol (3PMSF) and studded tires as winter tires.
